The Easter Basket

Filled with all the funky things Bella will love, it's not the prettiest setup, but she's going to have so much fun. I started buying stuff before I bought the basket, but it's overflowing with:

Three books (which wouldn't fit)
Two hand-made bunnies
One Chocolate bunny
Peeps-flavored chapstick (because she LOVES lipstick)
Two parachuting bunnies (that are a little scary looking)
Markers
Drawing pad
Dinosaur grow capsules (for bathtime fun)
Stickers
Weird, squishy-spikey ball
Water-glitter-filled cup
Bendy flower

Weekender Projects

(Ignore the dirty carpet from a two year old and a dog running in and out of the mulch. Something had to be sacrificed so I could get these projects done!)


The shirt for Bella's Easter skirt. Three chiffon roses.


Noah's baby blanket (which isn't so small or babyish). It's more like a cot blanket or toddler bed blanket. I'm sure he'll love it.


Another sun dress. I'm trying to decide what kind of straps and the type of strap--maybe a cute tie behind the neck?

Bella's Easter basket "after". Notice the difference? :o) I LOVED the basket since it was the perfect proportion for her, but the lining wasn't so girly. This one is much better. And we'll be able to use it later either in her room or in her bathroom filled with fluffy hair bows.

Sun Dress

The sun dress didn't turn out as well as I hoped, but someone didn't seem to mind.

5 Months

I'm 22 weeks and in case you were wondering what 22 weeks looks like...



I made the band to go over my jeans so that I can still wear my normal clothes. I did the embroidery on the bottom to make the band a little tighter at the bottom and because it's super cute. :o)

The Pettiskirt

It's almost FINISHED! How cute is this??

I just need to make her shirt now (although I think she's cute enough without one...what would think think at church??)

It's Spring

Kolaches

So the kolaches turned out delicious! This time, I used a metal pan for the fruit kolaches (which turned out doughy on bottom the last time) and a stone pan for the sausage kolaches (which turned out out burned on bottom on the test batch). I also thickened the cherry filling by heating it on the stove and using flour. I did a cream cheese version (sugar, cream cheese, vanilla, egg yolk)--I think that was my favorite sweet kolache.

On the sausage, I did a version with plain sausage and another with sausage, cheese, and jalapeno (the latter was my favorite). I can't wait to make these again. Not only was it nice to share a Czech tradition, but it was nice to have a little bit of Texas.
